In our second year buying coffee from Tony Castro as Finca La Joya we are proud to announce this natural coffee has scored an astounding score of 90 points with coffee review making it one of the most unique Honduran coffees in the country. Coffee Review: 90 points
Blind Assessment: Fruit-toned, chocolaty. Dark chocolate, dried raspberry, cedar, molasses, lily in aroma and cup. Sweet-tart structure with mild, accessible acidity; satiny-smooth mouthfeel. The fruit-toned finish is supported by notes of dark chocolate and cedar.
Notes: Produced by Tony Castro of Finca La Joya entirely of the Paraneima variety of Arabica and processed by the natural method. Our coffee selection from Honduras is not just about awesome coffee, its also about helping people. We first received samples from Tony Castro, founder of Finca LaJoya several years back during SCA Boston. Truth be told, we knew nothing about this coffee or Finca LaJoya, and Tony's natural sample sat in our cupping room for well over a month before we roasted and cupped it. Once roasted, we were pleasantly surprised by its beautiful flavors and we reached out to Tony, and we learned so much...
We came to find out that Tonys small Finca LaJoya is an engine that helps support an all girls orphanage and families in the area who work the farm. The "Faith Hope and Love" orphanage is located in Tegucigalpa Honduras and helps educate, care for and love around 15-20 girls.
Our relationship with Tony and his wife Sara is continually growing, and we are proud to announce this will be our third buying season. Harvest for this years crop is underway again with more naturals. We are blessed to not only be able to buy top grade coffee, but to know that our sales of this coffee help our global community on an individual level.
